In this project we wrote children stories in Spanish. The story is about our lives in the US and how they differ from other Latin countries like Guatemala. We will read these stories to Spanish speaking children that live in the area.

Project Reflection
This project really helped me memorize vocabulary that was required and get ahead and learn vocabulary that wasn’t required. It also helped me with my grammar. learning things that weren’t required helped me a lot for organizing sentences. I didn’t just take away language skills but also learned a bit more of how people lived in those other countries like Guatemala. I learned how similar our lives really are but how they are so different at the same time.
I am very proud of the work I have done for this project. I feel my book was very unique because every part of it was my original work. The binding was my work and all the art was purely mine. If I had the chance to do this project again, I truthfully wouldn’t change anything. I’m very proud of everything I had done. The colors I had used were slightly dull so I might have used different colors.
Overall this project was great. I learned better language skills than I would have before if we didn’t do this. The cultural awareness earned from research is also nice to have. This project has already helped me with Spanish tests and will hopefully continue to help me in the future.
Del Alm A
At the end of this project we read the books to the local Spanish speaking children of Del Alm a. Although they spoke better Spanish than I did I never got corrected on my grammar or pronunciation. It was very interesting actually reading a homemade book to children.
Arte y Lengua
In this project we were told to choose a famous Spanish/Mexican artist and study him/her. We studied our artists then created a piece of work following the same techniques or styling that our artist used. The artist I chose was Fransisco Goya. He was a court painter for King Charles IV. My piece of art was a pencil drawn portrait of Barack Obama.
Declaración Del Arte
Mi obra de arte es un dibujo del presidente Barack Obama. Es una obra realista dibujado en lapíz. Yo sigo Goya porque pintaba pinturas realistas de figuras políticas. Mi opinión es que los colores de pintura arruina la belleza de una obra. Lápiz hace líneas hermosas distinto de la pintura y además yo soy un mal pintor. Yo soy mucho mejor en el debujar.
Porque no tiempo suficiente, yo no dibujo un grupo de figuras pero una sola figura.Yo no dibujo figuras del tiempo de Goya pero dibujé figuras de hoy. Yo dibujo Obama porque es una persona reconocible como Carlos IV. Pero mi dibujo no es satírico. Para dibujar con sátira, Obama se vería comouna caricatura. Mi arte representa Goya, y al mismo tiempo representa mi personalidad y mi preferencias de arte.
La Poesía de la Comida
In this project we were required to study a country of choice. When this country was decided, we were assigned to find a traditional dish of interest that we, ourselves, would prepare and experience. but we wouldn't just make this dish, we would have to learn something from it to relating to the Spanish language. We took our chosen recipe and translated it into Spanish. This required us to figure out how to say all types of ingredients, measurements, and tools. After this part, we wrote an ode to either our full dish or an ingredient in the dish. This too had to be in Spanish.

1) Wash and drain rice.
-Lava y escurra arroz.
2) Using a spice grinder, grind rice until fine.
-Con un molinillo de especias, muela arroz.
3) Combine almonds and cinnamon bark.
-Combina almendras y Corteza de canela.
4) Add 3 1/2 cups of water and let sit overnight.
-Añada 3 1/2 tazas de agua y Deja reposar (overnight) 5) Blend rice mixture until smooth.
-Mezcla arroz hasta que esté suave.
6) Add 2 1/2 cups of water and continue blending.
-Agrega 2 1/2 tazas de agua y continua mezclandar
7) Add sugar and vanilla extract.
-Añada el azúcar y el extracto de vainilla.
8) Strain horchata into a bowl using stainer.
-Cola la horchata en un recipiente con colador.
9) Finish with 2 more cups of water.
-Termina con 2 tazas más de agua.
10) Serve over rice and enjoy.
-Sirva sobre arroz y disfruta.

In all, I'm very proud of what I had done in this project. Horchata has been one of my favorite drinks for years but I had never made it myself before. It was a fairly simple process, a lot simpler than I thought it was going to be. The thing that really helped me the most, though, was translating this recipe into Spanish. I had learned a decent amount of vocabulary that could very well help me one day. Not so much in the names of the ingredients, but the tools such as pans, grinders, etc. Writing my ode was another interesting experience. While it might not have helped me as much as translating my recipe, it really informed me about that type of poetry and how funny some odes can be.
